We are incredibly proud of these outstanding students and their commitment to excellence in academic achievement. Each of these remarkable young people has exemplified resilience and dedication as they’ve pursued their unique purposes, and we wish them all continued success as they continue their educational journey beyond Alba-Golden ISD.
Congratulations Lady Panthers!
Just a friendly reminder that next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers are the backbone of the district and give so much of themselves to our students. Please help us celebrate them!
The Lady Panthers begin post-season play tonight at Rivercrest. They face James Bowie beginning at 6:30 pm.
Anyone in the community who would like to present your scholarships to our seniors on this big night, please contact Ms. Amanda Galyean at firstname.lastname@example.org to be put on the program. Thank you all for supporting our students!
One final reminder....
April is Child Abuse Awareness month. Join us as we raise community awareness by participating in Blue Ribbon Week!
Attention: Parents of Bus Riders on Route 1 and Route 7 will be combined for today’s bus routes. If you have a student on one of these routes, we wanted to let you know that their arrival home could be delayed. Thank you!
The AGISD Board of Trustees has unanimously approved Mrs. Macie Thompson as Secondary Principal (Grades 6-12) beginning July 1, 2021. Mrs. Thompson is currently Associate Director of Curriculum and Instruction in Lindale ISD, where she has held that position since June 2020. Mrs. Thompson has strong campus leadership experience as well. Prior to her district administrative experience, she was Assistant Principal/Dean of Students at Lindale High School. While serving there, the campus received an "A" accountability rating and achieved 6 out of 7 distinctions. Prior to being employed in Lindale ISD, Macie was Assistant Principal at Weatherford High School as well as a classroom teacher instructing Government/Economics, Sociology/Psychology, Political Science and Debate courses. She received her B.A. in Political Science from Texas A&M University, M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University, and graduated from Quitman High School. She is currently pursuing her superintendent certification through University of Texas at Tyler. Macie currently resides in Quitman with her husband, Logan Thompson, an electrical engineer. According the Dr. Cole McClendon, Superintendent, the interview committee was impressed with Mrs Thompson's proven track record of strong instructional leadership balanced with the ability to create positive relationships with students, staff and parents. "There is no doubt Macie Thompson has a passion for education and very high expectations for everyone to be successful. It was evident in her interview how she will be a great fit for Alba-Golden ISD and promote a culture of accountability and high-performance at AGHS." Mrs. Thompson will be joined by an excellent administrative team at AGHS, which includes Brandon Bohannan (Assistant Principal for Grades 6-12) and Amanda Galyean (whose title will change from Dean of Students to Assistant Principal for Grades 6-12).
Pre-K/Kindergarten Round-up is near!
It's baseball time at A-G! The 2021 Mike Poston Tournament is officially underway!
We are thankful to be back! Thanks to the AGISD Maintenance Department for spending time this weekend making sure campuses are ready to go and making repairs where needed. We look forward to getting back on track!
Due to hazardous road conditions and possible power outages, AGISD will be closed the rest of this week with no remote learning required. A state waiver will be applied for which grants these days so students should not have to make-up these days this week. Please check our Athletics Facebook page about updates to schedule for games. See you on Monday, Feb. 22nd! Stay safe!
AGISD will use our last two “Snow Days” on Tuesday and Wednesday, 2/16 and 2/17, due to dangerously low wind chills and a second snow/sleet event expected early Wednesday morning. Conditions will be re-evaluated Wednesday for Thursday and Friday. If future closure is needed, remote learning will take place so be prepared. No remote learning will occur on Tuesday and Wednesday. Stay safe and warm! Thanks for your patience as we get through this winter weather!
Tonight's game time has changed to 6:00 pm due to the winter weather and an attempt to get fans and players off of the roads earlier. Game location is still Sulphur Springs High School.
After looking at latest forecasts, freezing drizzle is expected in early morning hours. We want to ensure our buses have plenty of time to safely make routes. Pickup times will be 2-hours delayed. Classes begin at 10 a.m. Be safe! If a change to this is made, that would be announced in the morning.
This is the ticket information for Thursday’s game at Sulphur Springs. We are allowed 200 fans. Parents have already had the opportunity, so it is open to the public. https://ssisd.simpletix.com/e/64057 Promotional code is AG2021Panthers
