Health Services

Alba-Golden ISD is committed to promoting the health, safety, academic success, and lifelong achievement of students. Our nurses work to promote health and safety, provide assessment of actual and potential health problems, and provide necessary medical management and health counseling in order to give our students the greatest opportunity to learn.

This website is designed to keep you informed and up-to-date on health related topics here at school. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email us!

Important Information to Know

The most common reasons that students are excluded from school:

  • Temperature 100 degrees or above (must be fever free for 24 hours without Tylenol/Motrin before returning to school)

  • Vomiting (24 hours vomit free before returning to school)

  • Diarrhea (24 hours diarrhea free before returning to school)

Medication

If your child will require medications at school, we must have medication orders signed by the doctor and the parent/guardian. All medication must be in the original container.  Only medication which cannot be given at home will be given at school.

No over-the-counter medicines (OTC) such as cough drops, cough syrups, antihistamines, creams, lotions, sprays, and pain relievers are allowed at school unless accompanied by a signed parent permission form. The OTC medication will be kept in the nurse's office under the same security as prescription medication.

No medication will be given unless it is clearly marked with a prescription label and a signed consent form is in the campus office.  Medicine will only be given to follow doctor’s orders.

Hearing & Vision Testing

All students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades will have their vision and hearing tested.  We will only notify those who are referred to see a doctor based on results.

**Please immediately notify your child's school nurse of any medical condition changes or restrictions to activity.
