Alba-Golden squads eke out wins over Grand Saline

The Alba-Golden Panthers and Lady Panthers came away with close victories at Grand Saline on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The Panthers won 60-57, and the Lady Panthers prevailed 42-37.

The Lady Panthers have secured a playoff spot and faced Dallas Madison on Monday, Feb. 11 at Wills Point High School gymnasium at 8 pm.

Although the Grand Saline game was far from the crisp performance they strive for, Lady Panther Coach Blake Hamrick commented, “It was a win, and always a good thing to end the regular season with a win before the playoffs.”

The Alba-Golden boys are still fighting for the playoffs. The win at Grand Saline kept them alive for post-season action. The Panthers must win one of their last two games in order to go to bidistrict competition. That will be no easy task as they faced Edgewood Friday, Feb. 8, and traveled to Rains County on Tuesday, Feb 12.
